Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments for both men and women who want to eradicate excess and / or unwanted hair. Here at Nassif Medspa, we use only the most premium lasers for the best results – Cynosure Elite+, a market leading specialist laser. It contains two laser systems – a 755 nm Alexandrite laser and a high powered 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser – these are the most optimal wavelengths for hair removal.
Unwanted hair can be present on a variety of areas over the face and body, for which the laser hair removal procedure can be adapted. Whether you’re male or female, young or old, particularly hirsute or just tired of never-ending grooming, excess body hair can be extremely challenging. Each person has different levels of unwanted hair and different areas can be affected.
As well as contributing to a less than pleasing appearance, removing excess hair often requires a regular routine that may include shaving, waxing or applying creams. These repetitive methods are usually very short term solutions that see hair starting to grow back fairly quickly.
This safe procedure involves holding a device against the skin, emitting a laser that delivers targeted heat energy to the follicles. The melanin in the hair (giving it its colour) absorbs the laser light which produces heat that damages the hair at the root. The root is completely destroyed and the follicle is prevented from producing a new hair. As the laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair, darker skin tones and hair colours will respond more effectively to this treatment. Results can often be seen within 7 – 10 days of the first treatment, with hair growth reducing further over a course of between 6 and 8 sessions depending on your hair type and strength.
Laser hair removal can be used to treat unwanted hair on areas of the face and body, including: legs, arms, underarms, stomach, back, bikini line and chest. Treating the face can reduce hair growth on the upper lip, side burns, eyebrows and neck, with male patients using this method to create neater facial hairlines.
Ingrown hairs can be a common problem for which laser hair removal may be a solution that is truly permanent.
