Ageing Neck / Décolletage
The décolletage is the name used to refer to the upper part of the body – predominantly the shoulders, neck and chest. When we reference an ageing décolletage and neck, this is typically the visible area of skin that is exposed above the neckline of your clothing.
The skin in this area is thinner than that of the arms, legs or torso, and has less oil producing glands. When these natural traits are couple with this being more exposed to the sun than other parts of the body, it can mean that the neck and décolletage are more vulnerable to the effects of ageing given the consideration of environmental factors that cause acceleration of the ageing process. This part of the body also has less fatty tissue, and so the skin may have a tendency to lack elasticity and as a result, is more likely to develop creases, or a ‘crepey’ texture.
