Facial Fillers

Facial Fillers are a great way to reduce wrinkles and facial depressions and can give your skin a fresher, more youthful appearance. A number of factors are involved in the development of wrinkles to the skin, including: ageing, sun exposure, poor lifestyle choices, gravity and genetics. As we get older, collagen, elastin and natural hydrating properties diminish and the skin becomes weaker and less supported by its internal structure. As a result skin laxity and volume loss alters the natural contouring of the face and the features appear less defined.

At Nassif MedSpa Manchester, we recognise that every patient has a unique look and facial structure that requires a personalised approach to achieve the appearance they desire. By attending a comprehensive pre-treatment consultation, our team of highly skilled professionals can put together a treatment plan that is suited to meet your exact needs, according to your individual concerns.

The purpose of dermal fillers is to lift, sculpt, contour and plump areas of the face and neck where a reduction in tissue density and loose skin are causing a wrinkled or flattened look. When small amounts are administered to specific areas, they can restore and rejuvenate the facial appearance when added volume helps to smooth the texture of the skin. A high concentration of hyaluronic acid is contained within dermal fillers, helping to increase hydration for a more radiant complexion.

Although dermal fillers are a popular anti-ageing solution for both men and women, their effects can be used to remodel a feature that appears weaker or unbalanced in comparison to the rest of the face. A popular example of this is facial contouring. Dermal fillers can successfully add volume to the cheeks or lips, around the jawline or on specific areas of the nose; working to improve the shape and create a sharper, stronger and more symmetrical appearance. When acne has left behind scarring that leaves depressions in the skin or an uneven texture, dermal fillers can help to create a smoother complexion.

Dermal Fillers vs Skin Boosters

Dermal fillers and skin boosters are often confused, but they work in different ways. Dermal fillers add
volume beneath the skin to restore lost structure, define features such as the cheeks or jawline, and
smooth deeper lines. Skin boosters, such as Profhilo, work more broadly across the skin's surface to
improve hydration, tone and overall radiance rather than adding shape or volume to a specific area.
Many patients benefit from a combination of both, tailored to their individual goals — this will be
discussed in detail at your consultation.

Please note: Any injectable procedure will only be undertaken after your face to face consultation with one of our doctors, during which a full assessment will be carried out and full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

FAQs

Am I suitable for this treatment?

Enhancing the appearance of the face and neck with dermal fillers can help to temporarily pause the signs of ageing as lines start to develop on the skin. If wrinkles have become more prominent, adding volume to the skin can help to noticeably reduce their look. When a certain feature appears weak or asymmetrical it can be felt that it is noticeable to others who are drawn to this characteristic. The application of dermal fillers can add volume to the underlying structure of the skin making cheeks appear fuller, the jawline looking sharper and better defined and the nose more aesthetically pleasing. A consultation at Nassif MedSpa can outline the benefits that dermal fillers can have for you.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Yes, when administered by a trained and experienced practitioner. Dermal fillers are FDA-approved and widely used; a thorough consultation will confirm whether you are a suitable candidate.

Will it hurt?

At Nassif MedSpa, injectable treatments such as dermal fillers are administered using a very fine needle in order to minimise any discomfort that inserting a needle may incur. If the patient wishes, a numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area prior to the procedure (approx. 20 – 30 minutes) to ensure the application remains pain free. Any sensitivity should only last as long as the duration of the actual treatment.

Are there any side effects or risks?

It is normal for patients to experience some slight redness, itching and swelling at the point of injection, which will ease within 24 hours of having the treatment. Bruising may also occur which can easily be covered using make-up and will usually have disappeared of the course of a few days. During your pre-treatment consultation you will be given information about the potential of less common risks of having dermal fillers. The team at Nassif MedSpa are always available to answer any questions or concerns both before and after your treatment.

How much downtime can I expect?

There is little to no recovery / downtime needed after your dermal fillers and you should be able to return usual activities very soon after treatment. Any side effects are often minor and do not cause any disruption to your ability to carry on with your day however, you may be given some aftercare advice to ensure the fillers settle successfully into the structure of the skin.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and Bio Filler?

Traditional dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid gel, while Bio Filler is made from your own blood plasma.
Both can restore volume; Bio Filler also stimulates your own collagen production over time. We can advise which is right for you during your consultation.

How long do dermal fillers last?

This varies by area and product, but most dermal fillers last between 6 and 18 months before a top-up is needed.
