Facial sagging can affect all of us to varying degrees as we start to age. Our self image is often one of the motivating factors behind us seeking facial aesthetic treatments. When we age, there are two main proteins naturally found in the skin that begin to depreciate. These proteins are collagen and elastin. When the production of these proteins starts to slow down, this weakens the structure of the skin and stops the features from holding their more youthful form.
As well as the slowing in production of collagen and elastin, we also lose natural hydration as well as a reduction in our natural fat pads.
