A common occurrence that affects everyone as they age is the development of fine lines and wrinkles. They can appear through a variety of reasons and their presence can often give the complexion a tired look.
The greatest contributor to ageing skin is the loss of collagen and elastin in the skin’s internal structure as we get older. These substances are present in higher levels with younger skin, which maintains firmness, fullness and an even texture. As their production decreases the skin loses volume, strength and its ability to bounce back.
Facial movement is another big role player, as this weakens the facial muscles, providing less support for the skin. Every single day our face uses a variety of movements as we smile, laugh, talk, express our feelings and show emotions.
