Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are skin resurfacing treatments that aim to remove the top layer of skin, to regenerate a new and healthier surface to the complexion. Typically performed in series, these treatments can improve a variety of common skin concerns, including: dull skin, lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin, pigmentation, uneven texture, minor scarring and acne. Our complexion can change in both tone and texture, as we progress through adulthood, due to the impacts of ageing and other external contributors.

Your skin concerns will be analysed at a thorough consultation, prior to treatment, from which the right chemical peel can be recommended. Chemical peels are available in varying depths – superficial, medium and deep – and are chosen depending on the type of concern that needs to be addressed.

At Nassif MedSpa the following peels are available:
The ZO stimulator peel – a superficial peel that is suitable for those who are looking to boost the health of the complexion;
The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance – a salicylic acid based facial chemical peel that exfoliates to improve the overall look of the skin, providing a firmer, brighter, smoother appearance;
The ZO 3 Step Peel – an incredibly powerful peel that maximises skin improvement and offers longer-lasting results than ordinary professional peels.
Phenol Peels – The most intense chemical peel for the treatment of deep lines & wrinkles for dramatic results.

Chemical peels can be used to treat the face, neck or chest. A solution that contains a combination of acids and other active ingredients, develops on the skin to encourage the start of a process that works to help the top layers of the skin to shed. This process may not begin for around a week after the initial treatment and can take up to 10 days to complete.
Once the skin has peeled it can unveil a surface layer that reveals new, healthier skin cells for a smoother, brighter more evenly toned complexion.

FAQs

Am I suitable for a chemical peel?

The type of peel that will best suit you will depend on the range of concerns that you are affected by. The peels available at Nassif MedSpa, superficial and medium peels are commonly used to treat: tired, dull looking skin; pigmentation; dry or oily conditions; fine lines and wrinkles; acne prone skin and open pores. A deep peel would be used to treat deeper wrinkles and skin laxity.

Are they safe?

The treatments we provide at Nassif MedSpa are carried out by doctors or specialists, deeming our chemical peels very safe to undergo. We use the most reputable products on the aesthetic market – ZO and Ogabi – which will have medical approval and are scientifically proven to produce safe and effective results.

Will it hurt?

It is not common for a chemical peel to be a painful experience, however, a patient may experience a warming sensation or some tingling as the solution develops. If the treatment starts to cause some discomfort you must tell your practitioner straight away.

Are there any side effects or risks?

Temporary side effects are commonly experienced, following a chemical peel. This may include redness, dryness, slight stinging or minor swelling. Your skin will also go through a period of shedding, where the top layers of the skin peel. This may take up to 10 days to complete, and is a normal part of the process.

How much downtime can I expect?

Chemical peels do not generally result in a required amount of downtime and you should be able to leave the clinic and continue with your day as normal. Although the shedding process may be slightly visible it should not be too significant.
