Anti-Wrinkle Injections

A treatment that is becoming popular with both men and women, anti-wrinkle injections can be applied to areas of the face where lines and wrinkles are causing a tired look. Facial movements can be responsible for the formation of a range of lines and wrinkles on the face and neck as they form a groove in the tissues under the skin’s surface, in which the skin will settle.

Anti-wrinkle injections contain botulinum toxin, an FDA approved product that is effective at helping to relax the muscles, preventing them from over contracting and causing the skin to wrinkle.

As ageing presents itself differently from person to person, facial concerns can vary and will require a personalised approach. A thorough consultation will assess your condition and discuss the results you are wishing to achieve, enabling a bespoke treatment plan to be recommended.

Anti-wrinkle injections are applied directly to the appropriate muscle using a very fine needle. As an esteemed doctor with many years of experience, Dr. Nassif’s expert team can apply their medical knowledge to ensure the right dosage is administered to the area of concern; effectively relaxing the muscle without producing a frozen look to the face. Effective for use on the forehead, around the eyes, on the chin, around the mouth and on the neck, anti-wrinkle injections can smooth the skin and create a youthfully rejuvenated look.

Conditions such as: crow’s feet, forehead lines, frown lines, top lip lines, ‘apple’ chin, fallen eyebrows, bunny lines, marionette lines and neck bands can benefit from the results that botulinum toxin produces, noticeably reducing their look.

The result of Anti-wrinkle injections will typically last around 3 or 4 months, although regular top-ups will help to continue its effects.

FAQs

Am I suitable for this treatment?

Although the signs of ageing usually start to appear when a person is in their 30’s, the process often begins several years before. When repeated facial movements combine with weakening skin (as collagen and elastin start to deplete) the fine lines that would appear and then disappear during facial expressions can start to become permanent and more defined.

A thorough facial assessment during a pre-treatment consultation will take into account the depth of your wrinkles and your realistic outcomes to ensure a bespoke treatment plan is made, just for you.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

The effects of botulinum toxin for cosmetic uses has been extensively researched, throughout the world. First given FDA approval 2002 it has been used millions of times and when administered by an experienced injector, produces many safe and effective results.

When injected correctly, the treatment is very safe and is increasingly being used to treat a variety of different medical and aesthetic issues, including: migraines, excessive sweating, jaw clenching and gummy smile correction.

Will it hurt?

As the injections are being administered, a slight tingling sensation may be felt. In general, anti-wrinkle injections are not particularly painful and the use of a very fine needle helps to make this treatment as comfortable as possible.

Just as ageing differs from person to person, so does every person’s own level of comfort and a numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area 20 – 30 minutes beforehand if the patient feels this is necessary. Any sensitivity will only last for the duration of the treatment, as it is being administered.

Are there any side effects or risks?

After the treatment, you may find small red bumps on the skin where the injections were administered which can also be accompanied by some slight bruising. These effects are only temporary and will often have disappeared within a few days.

When administered correctly, complications are rare and the team will explain all potential side effects during your pre-treatment consultation, including: headaches, fever, poor healing and scarring.

How much downtime can I expect?

It is usual for patients to continue with their day within a couple of hours of having undergone anti-wrinkle injections and in most cases, any sensitivity has subsided within 24 or 48 hours. The results from this treatment will start to show after 3 – 10 days, with the full outcome being visible at around day 30. Although causing no disruption to your day, it is advised that you avoid strenuous activity, Saunas and other facial treatments for up to 24 hours.
