Nano & Micro Laser Peels: Gentle Skin Resurfacing Treatments

NanoLaser Peel and Micro Laser Peel are advanced erbium resurfacing lasers from Sciton designed to treat sun damage, aging signs (such as fine lines and wrinkles), and mild discoloration. These treatments work by removing the outermost layer of the skin, stimulating new skin cell growth and collagen production. The lasers can precisely target skin cells at specific depths, promoting the development of softer, smoother, and rejuvenated skin as it heals. Collagen and elastin production continues to increase for several months post-treatment.

At Nassif MedSpa we offer a variety of skin resurfacing options at our Manchester MediaCity location, tailoring each treatment to meet the patient’s unique concerns, desired outcomes, and preferred recovery time.

NanoLaser Peel is the lightest full-field resurfacing laser treatment available, offering results up to four times more effective than microdermabrasion. These “weekend” peels involve minimal downtime, deliver proven long-term benefits, and are safe for all skin types. They can also be easily combined with other procedures.

In this instance, “nano” refers to the depth of treatment, which is measured in nanometers. The nano laser peel uses a light wavelength of 2940nm to gently exfoliate and resurface the skin.

Micro Laser Peel offers light to medium resurfacing. While still suitable for “weekend” peels, recovery time may vary based on individual skin concerns and provider recommendations. This treatment is also safe for all skin types and can be combined with other aesthetic procedures.

“Micro” in this case refers to the depth of treatment, which is measured in microns. The micro laser peel uses a light wavelength of 2940nm to target deeper layers of skin for more dramatic results.

Benefits of NanoLaser Peel and Micro Laser Peel

Laser treatments generally provide more dramatic results compared to chemical peels or microneedling, thanks to their ability to remove the skin’s outer layer and stimulate deeper collagen growth. Over the next 4 to 6 months, this leads to firmer, tighter, and healthier skin.

NanoLaser Peel and Micro Laser Peel can help improve:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Sun damage
  • Brown spots and uneven skin tone
  • Light acne scarring and large pores

Are You a Candidate for NanoLaser Peel or Micro Laser Peel?

These treatments are ideal for anyone seeking a light or maintenance resurfacing option to enhance skin texture, reduce wrinkles, address photo damage, and strengthen the skin’s elastin and collagen. Nano & Micro Peel is safe for all skin types and is easy to combine with other procedures

How is a Laser Peel Performed?

Your treatment will begin with a thorough cleansing of the targeted skin area, followed by the application of protective eye shields. The laser handpiece is held above your skin, with a computer-guided scanner directing the laser beam across the treatment zone.

Topical numbing cream is optional for most NanoLaser Peel procedures since the laser’s penetration depth is minimal. However, if a deeper treatment is recommended, numbing cream will be applied for added comfort.

How Long Does a Laser Peel Treatment Take?

Laser peel treatments are both quick and effective, typically lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the size and condition of the area being treated.

What to Expect During Recovery

NanoLaser Peel and Micro Laser Peel treatments are often referred to as “weekend peels” due to their shorter recovery times compared to more aggressive options like Halo and Contour TRL. Following the treatment, the skin may appear red, patchy, and dry for a few days. Post-treatment care will be discussed to ensure proper healing.

FAQs

How do NanoLaser Peel and Micro Peel enhance my skin?

The laser precisely removes a thin layer of skin, eliminating old, dull, and damaged tissue. This includes blemishes and hyperpigmented areas. As your skin heals, new skin cells, along with fresh collagen and elastin, will resurface, resulting in healthier, brighter skin with reduced fine lines, wrinkles, and more even pigmentation.

Do laser peels require anesthesia?

We offer topical numbing cream before laser treatments, depending on the depth of the treatment and your comfort level.

How aggressive are these laser treatments?

NanoLaser Peel is excellent for revitalizing facial skin by removing dull, tired skin cells with light energy. Both Nano and Micro Peel treatments are intermediate resurfacing options—more intense than chemical peels but less invasive than deep laser resurfacing.

How many laser peel treatments are needed for noticeable results?

The number of treatments varies depending on your goals. Some patients achieve significant improvements after one session, but a series of treatments is often recommended for optimal results and ongoing maintenance.

How long will the results last?

Laser peel results are long-lasting, as the treatment promotes a deeper skin renewal process. However, since aging and decreased collagen production will continue over time, maintenance treatments may be necessary.

Are there side effects to these treatments?

Post-treatment, you may experience moderate redness, slight swelling, and a sensation similar to a sunburn. These effects typically subside within 12 hours, although individual recovery can vary. We recommend scheduling treatments well in advance of important events to allow adequate time for healing.

Who can have Nano & Micro Peels?

Sciton Nano Peel and Micro Peels are safe for all skin types and are easy to combine with other procedures.

How does a Micro Peel and a Nano Peel differ?

A micro laser peel is a more intense treatment that targets deeper layers of skin compared to a nano laser peel. It is best suited for treating moderate to severe signs of aging and scarring, while the nano laser peel is ideal for addressing fine lines, pigmentation, and overall skin texture on delicate areas like the face.

Can I have Nano or Micro Peel on the face & body?

While the face is the most common focus, both treatments are versatile enough to be used on numerous parts of the body – including the neck, chest and hands – to improve texture and reduce the signs of ageing, redress sun damage and age spots to boost overall skin tone and (ideal for the legs) add smoothness.

What is the downtime?

Downtime will depend on the level of skin damage you’re looking to remedy and the preferred recovery time. For the MicroLaserPeel, we generally advise a weekend, with the NanoLaserPeel usually one day.
