Body Condition

Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating, medically known as Hyperhidrosis, is a common condition that typically affects the underarms, palms of the hands and / or the soles of the feet. A condition that affects both men and women, excessive sweating is commonly associated with; overactive sweat glands, anxiety, hyperthyroidism, diabetes and in women, polycystic ovary syndrome.

People with excessive sweating will often find that the application of a standard antiperspirant isn’t sufficient to keep the appearance of Hyperhidrosis hidden, and may go to some lengths to find solutions to help them conceal the condition.

About this condition

One of the most visible and embarrassing side effects is damp patches under the arms, which can occur with or without triggers, although stressful situations, nervousness as well as caffeine or alcohol intake can exacerbate the issue.
It is for this reason that people suffering with the visible signs of Hyperhidrosis may find themselves limiting their wardrobe choices to wearing black to disguise the dampness, or in some cases, avoiding social or professional situations altogether. Excessive sweating can be a very debilitating condition.

There are a number of over the counter antiperspirants available which are typically applied at night, but whilst effective in mild cases, these can also lead to extreme skin sensitivity, itching and soreness that can be very uncomfortable.

At Nassif MedSpa, we successfully treat Hyperhidrosis with Toxin injections to temporarily eliminate sweating in the affected areas.
