As we age, our bone mass diminishes, which means less support for the soft tissues of the face. Loss of facial volume can depend on many other factors such as genetics and weight and can give the appearance of sunken cheeks. A decrease in this bony support and descent of the fat pads, can create sagging of the midface and produce prominent nasolabial creases and a tired and older appearance. Restoring volume using safe dermal fillers will help to improve the appearance of the area.

Dermal cheek fillers are injected into your cheek muscles. The solution is designed to lift and act as a plumping mechanism that is responsible for rejuvenating the midface area.

Cheek & Midface Enhancements FAQ's

How does cheek enhancement work?

As you get older, you may begin to notice some sagginess in the skin on your face. This is a common sign of ageing, but we can use dermal fillers to make your cheeks look a little fuller and reduce unsightly jowls and wrinkles. Alternatively, younger patients may simply desire more prominent or defined cheekbones.

What does the cheek enhancement procedure entail?

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used to give a more defined and pronounced cheek bone appearance. This is achieved by administering several small injections of dermal filler along the contour of the cheek bone. Injections into the zygomatic arch can also be used to lift the face. When these injections are properly placed and injected they can lift the face up and out. The placement, lifting capability, the quantity of product, and the experience of the practitioner themselves are critical components of this procedure. It is also commonly used to treat lines caused by smoking and sun damage.

Please note: Any injectable procedure will only be undertaken after your face to face consultation with one of our doctors, during which a full assessment will be carried out and full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

What Results Can I Expect?

People age differently; some may lose fullness or volume, some may find the volume descends – droops or sags or even both. Replacing volume in the cheeks is therefore of high importance when rejuvenating the face. With inadequate cheek volume, the face no longer has the natural youthful curves provided by fuller cheeks. Furthermore, the mid cheek can support the lower eyelid, and in many cases, adding volume to the cheeks can improve the appearance of under eye bags and hollows.

One of the advantages of treating the cheeks is that it lifts the entire face and reduces naso-labial lines and jowls. The shape of the face can be reverted to a youthful ‘upside down triangle’.

Does the procedure hurt?

At Nassif Medspa, everything is done to make any discomfort minimal. A fine needle is used and local anaesthetic is given to numb the area and make it pain free.
