Everyday stress and overuse force fine lines into deeper ones over time, but anti-wrinkle injections such as Botox eases frown lines, and other wrinkles by relaxing key muscle fibres for months at a time, leaving you with a younger appearance. Botox injections can also be used to block nerve impulses that cause excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in the underarms, scalp, hands and feet.

What are Anti Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as ‘Botox®’, short for Botulinum toxin.

Botox is one of the most extensively researched cosmetics in the world, and has continued to gain in popularity with both men and women. The product is FDA approved to temporarily reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It works by limiting the motion of specific facial muscles – those that are continually contracting, eventually creating visible creases and lines. It has a beautiful smoothing effect that leaves you looking refreshed.

In addition to the treatment of cosmetic treatments such as frown lines and wrinkles, Botox® is also used to treat migraines, headaches and Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). The approved brands of Botulinum Toxin available in the UK include Botox®, Vistabel®, Xeomin®, Dysport® and Azzalure®.They all share similarities, but also have differences that mean one or more of these products can be best for the treatment of certain areas. Knowing the difference between them can give you a better understanding on how the skin professionals at Nassif Medspa can help you achieve the look you envision.

Depending on the areas of treatment a doctor will make a small number of injections into the muscles of your face. The injection process itself will only take several minutes. A full list of cautions and contraindications discussed during the assessment.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Botox is one of the most extensively researched (and used) cosmetics in the world. First FDA approved in 2002, it has been used millions of times on millions of patients across the globe. Side effects are extremely rare, and it is considered to be a very safe product when used correctly. In fact, the uses of Botox have expanded, and it is now approved to treat more conditions, including migraines and sweating. Side effects are typically very minor, such as bruising or selling at the injection site, which quickly fade. Some patients also report mild headaches shortly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 24 hours. Always have your treatments from a reputable clinic where every treatment is overseen by a skilled plastic surgeon.

Where should I go to get Botox treatments?

Botox treatments are popular and offers for discounts can be found online – but could pose a risk. The FDA has warned that counterfeit products have been found in the UK. Being injected with any product other than the FDA-approved version could be dangerous to your health. Beyond the health risks, the skill with which the product is injected is a critical point. At Nassif Medpsa, you can be confident that your treatment will be performed correctly and safely. Don’t take risks when it comes to any facial treatment or clinics that offer cut-rate prices.

Aftercare

Keeping your facial muscles active after the procedure will help the treatment to take effect. Try to avoid any unnecessary touching of your face during the 24 hour period directly after your treatment.
