DR. NASSIF’S SCAR CLINIC

Dr. Nassif’s Scar Clinic

We are proud to announce our new and innovative scar clinic here at the UK MedSpa. Whether it is a fine line across the knee, or a raised mark on the arm, most people have some scarring on their bodies. However, any type of scar from surgery, an injury, burn, accident or trauma can have a huge impact on our mental wellbeing and self-image. Using an advanced range of methods and technology we are now able to deliver a portfolio of treatments, some only previously available in the USA, to successfully fade and erase scarring quickly and with very little downtime. Due to this multi-modal and innovative approach we are able to deliver much more pleasing and dramatic results, including on very light or very dark skin, which previously have not always been easy to treat.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We have a selection of treatment options available that can be used alone, or in conjunction with each other in order to produce the best possible aesthetic outcome.
No scar is the same and Dr. Nassif and his team believe that neither should each treatment plan.
Using lasers, resurfacing and topical treatments the treatment protocol for each patient can be incredibly varied.
After your initial consultation with one of our scar experts, you can be safe in the knowledge that your treatment will be bespoke for you and tailored to produce the very best of safe outcomes.
Fractional laser technology for scar treatment can be one of the elements of your treatment plan. The laser delivers pulses of energy that heat the dermis at the level of the scar while preserving the epidermis (upper layer of the skin). This thermal reaction causes an inflammatory response followed by a remodelling of the dermis which in turn improves the in the colour, texture and tension of the skin. It promotes renewal and regeneration of skin cells and can be particularly effective when used on red or purple scarring.
Other available technologies at the MedSpa work by flattening or filling the area either with resurfacing or injectable treatments and making the scar blend with surrounding tissue.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR TREATMENT?

Due to the individual differences with scarring, a consultation is essential to discover if you are a suitable candidate and to determine what results you can expect.
A consultation is required in order to design a treatment plan to address your individual scar requirements.
We can address most scarring issues and unlike other treatments we have the ability to provide spectacular results on all skin types.
The age of the scar may also determine results, for instance, post – surgical scars benefit immensely from early treatment, this includes post traumatic scars (from accidents) 2-3 weeks after injury.
Here at NassifMD MedSpa surgeons often refer their post – surgical patients to us after surgery for scar treatment, as we have the only family of technology of its kind here in the North West.
We would recommend considering a consultation as part of any elective surgical journey you may be embarking on, in order to minimise any scarring quickly and effectively.

HOW LONG DO THE TREATMENTS TAKE?

Depending on the size and age of scars, treatments can take between 5 and 20 minutes.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING DURING TREATMENT?

Depending on each individual case, the treatment protocol may differ considerably.
However typically for maximum results a combined treatment using laser treatment, gentle skin resurfacing, and sometimes topical or injectable treatments are offered.
If needed cooling, topical or local anaesthesia can be administered to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

WHEN WILL I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?

Dependent on the size, classification and age of scarring, results will vary.
However, some of treatments offered produce immediate results, whilst others improve over the following months after final treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

Our treatments for scarring are quick, gentle and successful. The age, size, depth and type of scar you wish to treat will determine the amount of treatments needed.
The treatment protocol that you and your practitioner agree on may also involve at home treatment.
